During the summer of 2017 I noticed another crack in Serina’s mast. I marked it with a pen – to see if there was any spread during the rest of the year.

I didn’t know if this cracked when sailing, or when I put Serina on the trailer and took her to Cornwall.

In preparing her for transport I strapped the mast down very tight.. I could have cracked the mast myself.

Anyway, winter was the time to fix it again. Simon built up several new layers of carbon fiber and resin and rubbed it down and repainted.

It’s holding well during 2018 so far. But it it reappears a third time it may be time for a bigger sleeve.
