Variable to SW.
Picked-up mooring buoy outside Lymington as usual – to raise sails etc. Had to untangle mess of down-haul, snotter and reefing lines. Took about 45 mins to get straight.
Then tried to head for Newtown in light southerly wind. Falling tide was too strong, so thought about going to Keyhaven. However SW wind got up, so I headed to Yarmouth instead. Thought about reefing in Yarmouth, but no-one else had reefed, so I kept to full sail and got back fine.
Sailed up the river to the Ferry quay, to see if the other Romilly was about. Not on her mooring.
Went back to Haven to tie-up and put Serina away. Walked into town to meet Alison for an ice-cream. Saw other Romilly along-side at Lymington Yacht Club again.
Serina’s new black pennant is looking fine – in my opinion. (Picture to follow)

sail way out into Solent before turning to round yellow buoy – to avoid
getting swept west. Fun to work it out.

Great/throttle lever a bit stiff. Put 3-in-1 on lever and
cables. A bit of an improvement.

2017.08.28 s>Hugh Checked gearbox oil level. Oil on shoulders of dipstick
top and bottom marks, but couldn’t see any on centre part of the dipstick.

electrical power to engine.

re-attached.

back.

Sunny. F0-4. Engine started fine. Nice sail – destination Newtown.
Proceeded along the north side of the Solent keeping out of the tied in about
2m of water. Made slow progress in light winds and warm sunshine. At Pitts
Deep, decided to head across to Newtown, but wind died to nothing after about
10 mins. Started engine and got about half way over when I noticed another
Romilly between Newtown and Yarmouth. Decided to go to say hello rather than
going into Newtown.Turned out to be Tony and Vanessa in Hebe on their way
back from the Cowes Gaffers’ Regatta. Racing had been cancelled today because
of lack of wind. They were drifting home on the tide and had just caught a
mackerel when I appeared – unseen by them.

Nice beat for last 2 miles into Lymington in F4. Serina
going nicely. Tony and Vanessa continuing to fish. Tony and Vanessa joined us
at home with Alison and me for tea. They kindly gave us a mackerel which we
had grilled for supper on Sunday. Delicious.

Used RYA SafeTrx to record sail plan and track.

2017.09.13 Rope walk replaced 2 engine cables – to resolve stiff
gear / throttle lever.
Lombardini advised timing belt change at next service.
Angus has booked Serina in for Feb 18th
